Satu Hari Di Hari Raya
by M. Nasir

Satu hari di Hari Raya
Ku lihat cahaya bersinar indah
Langit cemerlang tak terkira
Tanda kuasa yang Maha Esa
Memberi nikmat pada manusia

Satu hari di Hari Raya
Ku dengar irama yang sungguh indah
Ku coba mendekati padanya
Kira irama itu adalah
Suara pujian pada yang Esa

Satu hari di Hari Raya
Aku menangis tanda gembira
Aku menangis tanda ku cinta kepadaNya

Satu hari di Hari Raya
Ku lihat wajah suci ibuku
Ku lihat wajah kasih ayahku
Ku gembira
Mungkin inilah dia kebahagiaan

Selamat Hari Raya!!!

7 down to 6?

Why do I get a feeling that Mizie is getting married too, soon?

8 budak hitam dah tinggal lagi tujuh...

Yeup! You've guessed it... Received another wedding invitation. This time from Man Polis.

the girl version of the 'Dead Poet Society'

I think it was in Channel 9, or was it Astro?, that I saw the trailer for 'Mona Lisa Smile' (MNL) starring Julia 'Modder' Roberts. The first thing that crosses my mind as the trailer plays is "Heck! This is like 'Dead Poet Society'. Only that this time the students are girls!". Must watch!

And today, again, I come across another mention of MNL, this time in the internet. Eonline has classify it as one of the '5-Oscar-Worthy' movies that'll be shown this holiday season.

Other categories : 5 Knee-Slappers, 5 White-Knuckle Scenes, 5 Three-Hankie Moments (LOTR is in this one... but why not 'Oscar Worthy'?), 5 Fresh Faces.

10 budak hitam...

"10 budak hitam, main dengan lipan, satu kena sengat, tinggal lagi sembilan.
9 budak hitam, main kapan-kapan, satu kena tanam, tinggal lagi lapan......"

Just like those 10 budak hitam one by one of my friends are getting married. And most of them will be getting married this December. Remember Brother, the one I told you? And then it's Wan (27th), and just now I received the news that Emma is getting married on the 28th.

Man! Everyone seems to be hitched these days.... while I'm being ditched! HAHAHA! No-lah! Just joking... No! Not the hitched part, the ditched part...

Oh, what's the use!

Eidl Fitri

I received Hari Raya (Eidl Fitri) card from Cik Li.

P/s: Dah pandai buat lawak yer ko Cik Li? Tak pe. Aku anggap itu sebagai satu cabaran.

Dan, yach, tentunya kita akan ke Yogya, Jakarta, Bali, Bandung.InsyaAllah...

marathon

Last few weeks, I bought the ticket to watch Lord of The Rings Movie Marathon (Extended version) on the 19th Dec 2003 at Sunway Pyramid.

But the thing is, I forgotten that on the 20th, I have a wedding to attend to... I can take a rain check on the wedding, if only it weren't my cousin who is getting married! I only realize this yesterday when that cousin of mine came to the house. And she's aware of the movie-marathon-thingy...

The movie ends at 11.30am (20th) while the wedding is around 1pm(20th).

How am I going to do this?

hmmm...

There are actually 2 options that I can think of right now
1) Skip the marathon and sell it to someone else (NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!)
2) Still go to the marathon but go home once the movie ends. (???)

I'd prefer (very much) the second option.
Anyone else have any better ideas?
Otherwise, on that day I'd really have to do a marathon, in its true sense of meaning!!!

Excuse For Going Window Shopping

I got this from watching 'Malcolm In the Middle' last night, a conversation between Malcolm and his Mom.

Malcolm : Why do we even waste our time looking at things we know we can't afford to buy...
Mom : Coz, if we spend more time looking at those we do afford to buy, the house will be filled with garbages!

What a clever, clever woman!

So girls, go ahead, go crazy with your window shopping.
Coz I know I will...
Well, actually that's the only shopping I can afford!!!

News from Michigan

I received a forward from my colleagues this morning containing the writing from Farah, one of the close friend to the two Malaysian students in Michigan who died after being hit by a truck last few weeks. I was thinking maybe I could post the mail in this site. But after reading the mail, it occurs to me that the writing of Farah is more of a blog than an email. So, I decided to provide to all of you the link to her blog instead.

Below is an article on the news, although I know it's a tad too late to post it but nevertheless...

Two Malaysian students die in Michigan crash

By JOHAN FERNANDEZ
ANN ARBOR (Michigan): Two Malaysian engineering students at the University of Michigan died instantly after being hit by a pick-up truck just outside the Ann Arbor Islamic Centre here on Sunday night.

The students, Teh Nanni Roshema Roslan of Pengkalan Chepa, Kota Baru and Nor Hananim Zainol of Kuala Nerang, Kedah, both aged 22, had just broken their fast at the centre and were on their way to take a bus to return to their campus.

Investigations were still under way but a police officer at Ann Arbor said that the two students had apparently got to the centre of Plymouth Road and decided for some reason to get back to the same side of the road when they were hit.

Police questioned the driver of the Ford Ranger pick-up truck at the Ann Arbor police station before releasing him. No charges were filed.

Officials from the Malaysian Students Department (MSD) in Chicago were in Michigan to meet university officials and to make arrangements for the bodies to be sent back to Malaysia.

TRAGIC LOSS: Nor Hananim Zainol (left) and Teh Nanni Roshema were hit by the pick-up truck on the way back to their campus shortly after breaking fast. Both died on the spot.
An official said that the next-of-kin had been informed of the tragedy.

Nor Hananim was to have graduated in computer engineering next year while Teh Nanni Roshema would have graduated in electrical engineering in 2005.

“We hope to send the remains back as soon as possible,” said an MSD official.

The Michigan Daily quoted the president of the Islamic Centre, Nizih Hassan, as saying that according to surveillance cameras outside the mosque, both students died on impact.

He blamed the deaths of the women on the dangerous traffic conditions in front of the mosque.

“This should not have happened –it was absolutely preventable. This is a high-traffic area and there is a school here, and every night hundreds of people come to the mosque and there is no traffic light. We see people driving very fast down the street,” Nizih told the paper.

“This was an issue that was brought up before the city officials but there was no positive response to the request to have a light here. It is very unfortunate that it had to happen to wake up the city officials.”

Other students also complained that poor lighting on the streets and the absence of a pedestrian crossing made a walk to the mosque dangerous.

They felt that there should be a pedestrian crossing or traffic light near the mosque as the nearest traffic light junction was a mile away.

Farah Nazihah Faisal, also an engineering student, who shared an apartment with Roshema and Nor Hananim, was still in a state of shock.

She told the paper that the three of them were close friends and inseparable and that Malaysian students here were shocked over the tragedy.

There are about 40 Malaysian students at the University of Michigan.

Our own little excercise session...

Yeup!
I don't need to go to the gym or jog around the park to be fit.
I don't have to go to anywhere else for that matter.

Nope!
I don't have a small gym or any excercise equipment at home.

I just have to wait for it to rain and I'll get a full 30 minute (minimum) excercise.

Why?

It's like this you see...
My house is so old that everytime it rains (especially heavy rain) the kitchen area of my house will get flooded!!! The water will rise up, at most, to the ankle level (thank god!!!).

Don't ask me where the water comes from but I can guarantee, it's not from the toilet (eww!).

The water level won't go down on its own. So, what do we do? We have to scoop the water out!!! From the aching of my body, I can say that the effort, or I call it 'excercise', involves most of the muscles in the human body. And as a bonus, the excercise also give some work out to your joints. I can feel my body weight shedding off (like as if it's a snake's skin)!!!

Outside is raining, but inside is wet!

Excercise steps
Note: To get faster result from this excercise, best do the work out alone.
1. to warm up, run around the house. At the same time, grab whatever pails, scoops and old rags (cloths) you can find.
2. bend-scoop-pour, bend-scoop-pour (repeat until the pail is almost full of water)
3. push the pail-stand-pick up pail onto sink-pour(count til 8)
4. repeat step 2 and 3 until water level goes down!
5. to warm down, sit down on your bed with your leg straight in front of you. Then level your back so that it lies parallel with your mattress. Take 3 deep breath. Go to sleep! (Reminder: Do not perform this step unless you have, at least, wash your hands, feet and face, and change your clothes - depending on its wetness)

Anyway, yesterday we had one session.

*Yawn!* I am so sleepy and tired!!! Can't believe I have the energy to come to work today! Well, actually I had to practically drag myself to work! Have an important meeting to attend to!

**UURGHHHH!!!**

Interest-Challenged...

If you're not capable of thinking, it's called mentally challenged...
If you're having problem speaking, speech-challenged...
If you're not able to do work and you're practically bored to death, interest-challenged is it?

Well the point is I'm bored!!!

My office's mail is having problem since yesterday (so they say!)...
Everytime I refreshed my mail program, there's not a single mail for me...
Called the person in-charged. Apparently there's thousands of email in queue and because of that all emails to be sent out are delayed... *SIGH*....

So, I decided to waste my time by finding a way to remove the ads from my blog...
I opened up several blogs, which do not have ads in them, to look at its source....
After several tries, at last, I managed to hide the ads!!!! hehehehe....

That the highlight of my day!!!

'INTERESTING', AIN'T IT???

KLCC Night Time...

KLCCYesterday, I broke fast with my ex-uni mates. It's been quite a while since we all met up in big group like that... We used to meet up almost everyday for dinner during our post-graduation period. At that time the smallest group of people who came were about 7 people... but yesterday Roy, Betik, Brother, Hasrul, Skin (Hasrul's gf), Eughek, Anim, Jean, Tini and I managed to come down to Madam Kwan's(MK) for the gathering...

Reached KLCC at 6.15, knowing it's still early to go straight to MK, I called up Tini and Meen to find out where they are and whether they have arrived yet. Meen was still in the LRT but luckily Tini's already arrived (Yeay!)and was clothes-hunting in Isetan. I didn't want to go there (MK) on my own. Honestly, I was feeling a bit uncomfortable about meeting up with those other people. I don't know why...

You know how it is... although we still keep in touch via email, it's different when seeing them face-to-face... despite the fact that we've already known each other for almost 2 years plus, there's still a gap...

So, I met up with Tini first and we continued her clothes hunting at PDI. Meen joined us 10 minutes later...

Finally, we went up to MK for the gathering... So, there they were... Brother, Betik, Roy, Fiza, Hasrul and Skin seating at the round table with their food already on the table.

We politely acknowledge each other and personally, I thought there was a brief silence. It felt different esp when the noisiest person in the circle of friends (Faisal) was not there... Nonetheless, we talked.

At first, I noticed the talking was done between those whom are close with each other for example me, tini and meen, betik and azrul, hasrul and skin etc... there were quite a number of personal jokes being told at the table, whispering between among each others... nobody knew how to break the ice, although Eughek did try with me, but, hehehe I couldn't here what she was mumbling... I wasn't focusing. Meen also tried to break the ice with Brother...

And there it was... the album... the engagement album... eughek's engagement album to be precise.... Tini, Meen and I looked at the photos. It was quite a big engagement ceremony. Malays usually hold a simple ceremony for engagent, just amongst the immediate family. We do not want to make such a big fuss about it, just in case the engagement didn't work out, i guess. So anyway.... the 'hantaran' Juan(her fiance) gave was ok looking. His theme color was lavender while Eughek's was orange/yelow... The rombongan from each side of the family was big... The almost filled the entire house (am I exaggerating?)... Hey Meen, Tini, did we ask Eughek to show us her engagement ring?

Oh, did I mention that the reason we met up that day was also because Brother wanted to distribute his wedding invitation? Yeup, the theme of the day was "I am getting married soon".

After finished eating our food Brother gave us our card. It was really an interesting card. It was simple yet elegant! The card is three-folded, dark blue and the writings are in silver... short-sighted people might have problem reading them though. heheheheh.... Brother had his and his fiancee's initial printed big at the front of the card. Honest! If I were to get married, I'd pick that one too! And the card is very affordable! 70cents per piece.

Eughek was busy asking questions about the card's where-how-what. The funny part was that Anim looked very interested too! It's ok for Eughek coz she's getting married soon, but Anim ...??? ... hmmm.... we, Skin and I, teased her about it...

"Wah.. Anim... interested nampak? Ada apa-apa ker?" *wink*wink*
"Eh! Apa!?! Mana adala... Anim tanya ja..." Knowing Anim, that is her usuall response to defend her action.

Anim is the quiet type...innocent looking and not to mention 'skema' ... And good at keeping secret, her secret that is... That's why we didn't even know that she had a boyfriend during college. We knew about it accidently through what was meant as a joke...

Me: "Anim... wah! ko... Hari tu, jalan pegang tangan tak pandang kiri kanan yer masa shopping?"
Anim: "HAH? ALAMAK! Ye ka? Kenapa aku tak nampak korang?"
BUSTED!!!!

College was fun... for me lah!

So, back to the gathering.... We hang around MK from 6.30pm to 9pm... guess we did have a lot to talk about!

Seeing that it was Wednesday, Meen, Tini, Jean(she joined us around 8) and I decided to watch a movie. Tini was in her 'horror-flick' mood but there weren't any good seats left, so, 'Uptown Girl' it was...

When we went in the cinema, the movie has already started for about 5 minutes and we had to find our seats in the dark... And I stepped on Meen's foot! SORRY MEEN!!!!. We had to go pass 4 people to reach our seats but everything went smoothly after that and we enjoyed the show.

I don't like Brittany Murphy. I don't think she's pretty. I think she's a bit on the sloppy and 'tramp'-y side especially in 8 Miles. But her character in Uptown Girl was o-klah. The movie itself was entertaining. The part I love most was when Mark McGrath came up the screen!!!! *SCREAM* heheheh... The saddest part was when Brittany had to auction her dead father's (rock icon) guitar collection after being cheated by her father's agent. Any scene that involves relationship between a father and daughter always touches me. That hits near to home...

Well, the movie ended it's going home time... Tini almost forgotten to send me home.. yes, she did!!!. Arrived home, check up on the kittens and cats. Ate my sahur. Watch some story on tele. Read a few pages of Shopaholic Abroad.

By the time I went to sleep it was already 2 a.m.

Count of Monte Cristo

I watched this movie last Sunday on Cinemax.
Been wanting to do so for quite a while now.
Got the feeling that it is a great movie, and I was right.
The movie is great!

I don't know.
I like any movies with good (and handsome) guy who was once opressed, coming back to take revenge.
Not just any kind of revenge... It has to be classy and intelligently strategized!
Not those movie like Rambo, or Freddy Krueger or Total Recall.. urgghh!!!

So, if you have the time, and perhaps ASTRO, I highly recommend this movie!!!

Or, if you prefer, you can read online the original story, written by Alexander Dumas (the same author who is responsible for The Three Musketeers)

Count of Monte Cristo

Synopsis
Count Of Monte Cristo the greatest tale of betrayal, adventure and revenge the world has ever known. When the dashing and guileless Edmond Dantes (Jim Caviezel of Angel Eyes) is betrayed by his best friend (Guy Pearce of Time Machine) and wrongly imprisoned, he becomes consumed by thoughts of vengeance. After a miraculous escape, he transforms himself into the mysterious and wealthy Count of Monte Cristo, insinuates himself into the French nobility and puts his cunning plan of revenge in action. This swashbuckling thriller will have you sitting on the edge of your seat until the last ounce of revenge is exacted.

Assalamu'alaikum,

I got goose bumps...

from watching ROTK's trailer!!!!

Can't wait for this final installment of LOTR Trilogy...sad too cause there's no more Aragorn after this.... tsk!tsk!tsk!

*shiver*

the way things are now...

are not quite hectic.

There's not much work to do here in the office.
Most of the time I have been busy making myself look busy! hahahaa!!!

I ve been preoccupied with changing the layout of my blog... not much difference...
After mine is finished, I 'helped-out' changing singled-out's blog...
>;P
Most of the time I spent doing single's rather than doing anything else... once I start, there's no stopping me!!!

It's either blog, or check my emails...
Although I check my emails every 3 minutes or so, I just don't have the mood to reply them.
If I have to, I just send out a short email...

Right now, my shoulder is aching, my eyes are getting blurry. Just from spending too much time in front of the computer...
But the weird thing is that instead of getting sick of it, I think I'm loving it more and more.. esp the Internet!

*sigh*

PS: Liza, kalau ko baca nih, sorry lah weii.... aku dah tulis satu mail untuk reply mail ko, tapi, skang nih aku rasa isi dia macam tak sesuwey jer... so, aku rasa nak discard it...bila aku senang nanti aku email hang...

books.. books.. and more books!!!

Yippie!!!

Today at my workplace they are having a book sale... This is the event I have been waiting for... I get to buy most of the books I wanted at the cheapest price.

They're selling the books at 15% discounts. And to top that of, the company I'm working for will subsidies 25% (to a maximum of RM100). 40% discount!!!!. But the downside is that they don't have lots of choices. The participating bookstores open their counter here (at my workplace). So, they only brought certain books or those which we have requested. Lots of them are management books and games (like monopoly, boogle, twister)... Not many storybooks or novels.... booorriingggg!!!

But, it's ok... Coz usually, the week after, they will have another session whereby the staff can go to the participating outlets and buy the books there... I prefer it that way. More choices!

Today, I only brought RM80 and am too lazy to withdraw money from the ATM.
I bought the Shopaholics series and wanted to buy one of the Mahathir's books, not enough money. Maybe next time.

The book sale will end tomorrow noon...

Love makes you...

What does LOVE really do for us?
...weak!

Really!

I realize this as I remembered my past love/crush/infatuation etc...I remembered doing stupid stuff just to please my 'at-that-time-better-half'... Just to impress him... To make him know that I care for him... that I am the ONLY ONE for him...

Well, yes, maybe I succeeded in doing so, but at the same time it made me look like a FOOL!

Urgghhh!!!! I hate what I did!!!

No, I'm not feeling this way because my relationship failed... Besides, that was a long-long time ago. I think I'm more clear-minded now...

Love can turn a tomboy into the most feminine lady you've ever met!!!
Love can even turn the most harsh-talking-guy into the most expert-baby-talking person in the world!!!!
Lucky I wasn't like that... honest truth!

When I was in love, the worst thing I did was wait for my crush/love until he comes home from work or wherever he was (the keyword here is 'WORST' people!)... I was really, really, really horribly sensitive person you'd ever known!!! When we had a fight, I would cry myself to sleep (URGGHH!!!). I would buy food for him and his entire housemates (and there were 20 of them in the house). I would write the most pitiful love letter... In one word, I was a WEAKLING!!!

Just to share with you a story of someone I know (lets call her 'Siti') who is currently in a relationship with this guy (let's call him 'Ali'). So, Siti and Ali have been together for about 3 months now. Ali is working while Siti is still a student.

So, this Ali guy. He's really good with his work. And he cares for details and will speakup if he does not agree with anything. But, he changes everytime he's with Siti. He would follow whatever she says, do whatever she wants him to do. He'd even skip work just to be with her. He'd buy her things with a snap of her finger. He'd even jumped into the volcano if she asked him to. A perfect Mr Right you say? Think again... This guy is a horrible 'green-eyed-monster'!
He deleted all Siti's guy friends phone number from her handset. He once grabbed a guy by the collar for looking at her. He flinched at the slightest mention of her name by any guy. He don't mingle around with other guys when Siti's around.

Ali did confess that he would rather be a slave to Siti just as long as Siti be his girl!

Pathethic? That's not even close!

There's this one time, they had a fight (they always fight!). Siti went into the car and wanted to drove away. Ali tried to stop the car by standing in front of it and she knocked him over! Luckily, he was not badly hurt. Not sure whether it's because she loves him or purely because guilt, she sent him to the clinic and he spent the night (just sleeping) in the family's house. Speaking of which, eversince they started going out, the guy rarely goes back to his own home. He spent most of his time (day and night) in the girl's (family) house. It's really bad to the extent that the family felt sick at the mention of his name.

Now, do you see what I mean? Ok,I know that not everyone's like that. But you must admit that people do stupid things when they're in love... Devdas (drank himself to death after losing his childhood love to another man), Bawang Putih Bawang Merah (hung an axe above the door just to hear her husband say 'I LOVE U'), and who has never heard of the ever-famous love story between Romeo and Juliet....

Romeo and Juliet... hah! Now that's a sad one...

Hi!

I'm Bored!!!
