I'm baaaackk!!!

It's end of the year but work are piling up! And I'm not sure where to start.

I'll figure that out later... But for the mean time....

eOnline has come out with their pick for 2005 Top 20 Movies and here's what I think of them...

20. Serenity (Universal)
Their Rating : A-
Me : Haven't watch

19. The Squid and the Whale (Samuel Goldwyn Films)
Their Rating : A
Me : Haven't watch

18. Red Eye (DreamWorks)
Their Rating : B+
Me : Decided not to watch simply bcoz I think that guy has weird a-bit-girly-like face.

17. Murderball (ThinkFilm)
Their Rating : A
Me : Haven't watch

16. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Touchstone)
Their Rating : B+
Me : I think it was just so-so for me... but I give an A for the robot though!

15. Wedding Crashers (New Line)
Their Rating : A
Me : Damn funny!!!

14. Munich (Universal)
Their Rating : A-
Me : Haven't watch

13. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (Warner Bros.)
Their Rating : B
Me : Have the vcd (pirated, of course, since not yet shown here) but haven't watch

12. Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit (DreamWorks)
Their Rating : A
Me : Watched it at my cousin's place. They all seems to like it. But I didn't manage to concentrate since was busy chasing rainbows with my camera.

11. Millions (Fox Searchlight)
Their Rating : A
Me : Haven't watch

10. The Matador (Weinstein Company)
Their Rating : A
Me : Haven't watch

9. Batman Begins (Warner Bros.)
Their Rating : B+
Me : I'm a bit bias coz I think no one else can play the part of Bruce Wayne/Batman better than Micheal Keaton! Overall, I think the movie is OK...

8. Kung Fu Hustle (Sony Pictures Classics)
Their Rating : A-
Me : Stephen Chow always comes up with wierd, wierd stories, doesn't he? I was turn off by his sometimes gross looking and comic-behaving characters. However, also like his other movies, he won 5 awards in the Chinese equivelant-to-Oscars film festival. And in sort of coincident when I was at my dad's house, I sat down in front of the tv and watch it on AXN. At first I was like "Ergh!" ,"Eww!", "Yuck!". But gradually it turned to "ek'eleh", "hahahah", "muahahahah!". So, in short, I think I'll give it a B+.

7. Pride & Prejudice (Focus Features)
Their Rating : A
Me : Their playing it soon in the cinema, and I've always been a sucker for Jane Austen's work. I'll definitely go and watch it!

6. A History of Violence (New Line)
Their Rating : A-
Me : Uwarrrghhh!!!! I've been trying to find the vcd everywhere that I can think of! But, none of the Apeks have heard of it! How can lah!!! Somebody, anybody, if you happens to know where I can get my hands on it (in KL), let me know A.S.A.P.! I love Viggo Mortensen and I wanna marry him!!!! hahahahha!!! ... no, seriously.

5. Sin City (Dimension Films)
Their Rating : A
Me : How the heck did I manage to watch this limb-cutting, blood-filled, R rated movie to the end! I must have covered my eyes 70% of the time, I guess?

4. March of the Penguins (Warner Independent Pictures)
Their Rating : A-
Me : I watched it last Wednesday. I was looking forward to watching the cute penguin do their march while listening to the soothing sound of Morgan Freeman narrating the entire storyline. So, there I was sitting in the cinema, patiently waiting while they roll the ads. About 15 minutes later, the documentary starts. I knew the film was produced by some Frenchies. The opening song were sang by some lady that sounded a bit like Jewel. All that didn't matter to me. What mattered was that the narrator didn't sound at all like Morgan Freeman, and what's more dissapointing was the fact that the narration was in MANDARIN!!! Biar betul??? arggh!!!! How can this be!!! But, I decided to stay and sit through the movie since the penguin-walk was really cute. Mandarin pun Mandarin lah! But, at the risk of repeating myself, "KENAPAKAH MANDARIN~!!!"

3. The Constant Gardener (Focus Features)
Their Rating : A
Me : Have the vcd (pirated, of course, since not yet shown here) but haven't watch. Come to think of it, like my books collection, there are so many vcds I bought but I haven't had the time to watch!

2. King Kong (Universal)
Their Rating : A-
Me : I wanted to watch it simply because it was Peter Jackson's movie. To me, regardless of any actors cast for the movie, since LOTR's trilogy, as long as it's Directed by him, I'll definitely watch it. As for Kong, I love the setting, love the cinematography, love the actors, the acting, and all that BUT personally, I hate the story. Come to think of it, I've actually hated the King Kong story eversince I watched the 80's version. Lucky PJ didn't decide to remake the scene where Kong bathe the girl in a lake and 'blow-dry' her with his breathe! urgh!!! Even we at times find our own breathe to be stinky, it's a wonder how she managed to stand Kongs!!!
Like my friend said it best, "KK is like Titanic. The storyline itself wasn't that great but it sure got a lot of BUZZ!".

1. Brokeback Mountain (Focus Features)
Their Rating : A
Me : Refer my previous entry... But if they decide to show it here, then I'll be watching it.

And there's another movie which I think eOnline should list as one of their Top 20. "Baik Punya Cilok!!!" . Afdlin's the best!!!

;)

Not At My Desk

I'll not be in the office from this week (I have training) onwards until the 28th (I'm on leave! Yeay!).

ps: "Senang nya dalam hati..."

lingering around

*sigh*...

i couldn't get any work done today since my programmers/vendors (6 of them!) have conquered my workstations the whole day!

and they are still here right now, as i'm typing this entry from my colleague's (who has gone home) workstation.

blergh!

ps: oh! did i mention that my department's policy dictates that the staff has to accompany the vendor if they were to access the system? so, i can't go home until they do... uhuks!
pps: although i could be a mean person by shoo-ing them away! hah!!!

Afterglow

by INXS
Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the faith has gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest

hurtfull...

why do people like to talk behind your back when face-to-face they act so very nice to you?
why can't they just tell you face to face if they want something or if they're not happy with you?
why do they have to go and tell someone else about it? and what more in front of someone who you know hates you...
why do people have to be so talam-dua-muka about things?
and having to listen to it from someone else?

that's just plain hurtful!!!

ps:now i know where i stand... );

PS:

Congratulations to my friend Kirana on her recent engagement!!!

gay-boy?

A story about gay (or rather Bisexual) cowboy couple?

Who would've thought that one day this movie theme would be accepted in the Hollywood's entertainment mainstream... or maybe it's just me being naive...

This movie has been getting a lot of awards recently (i.e. New York Film Critics Circle's Best Film, Best Director for Ang Lee and Best Actor for Heath Ledger) and is expected to be in the running for Oscar's Best Picture award.

Brokeback Mountain
Brokeback Mountain
Possible cinema title translation : Gunung Brokeback
Worst Case Scenario : Gunung Patah-Belakang
Just as long as it's not : Kisah 2 Orang Cowboy Yang Gay udah!

;P

With such recognitions and big-names casts/director, no doubt I'd be looking forward to watching it.

(<-- doesn't sound so gay to you now, does it?)

hahah!

once in a while, when i get this newsletter, i won't be bothered and simply remove it to my trash bin.however, today it subject caught my eyes.somehow I found it quite amusing.
"Kakiseni: Welcome To Suddenly Clean KL"
I decided to open it and the first paragraph read...
It’s a gushy week at Kakiseni, with positive reviews all around. It feels like we’ve been overtaken by cheerleaders on speed or BN supporters. It might have to do with the season. Or perhaps we have been unconsciously swept along with the positive vibe of the East Asia Summit, which comes with the patriotic need to hide everything that makes this city real: plant bright flowers along grimy roads, put up partitions on highways surrounded by slums, and arrest all junkies or junkie-looking folks chilling out in public places.
true! why do keep everything clean only when there's a "B-I-G" event and starts throwing candy wrappers and tissues everywhere when the first news of the visitors leaving the country hits the radio...but, I myself talk about conserving the environment and saving "Gaia" but in truth, I too throw things outside the windows once in a while!

addition to the collection

Went to MPH MV during lunch yesterday and bought these books (padahal yg kat rumah tu banyak lagi yg belum baca! Hehehehe). Ambik kesempatan while the company is having it's second book sale carnival. Purchase of books gets 15% discounts from MPH and to add to that, 25% subsidies from the company!

Titles bought:-

Meet my faithful sidekick - My camera!

It was the first thing I purchased using my credit card - that was in 2003. Bought it before going off for my Euro trip.

It's already been 2 years now. Been thru a lot with me. Her metallic body has been autographed by SO7 members - TWICE! And she's taken god knows how many high quality photos of very much everything. Concerts (10X zoom is really handy when you're seating on a bleacher that's 50mtrs away from the stage!), holidays, loved ones, scenery, masa kejar Sheila on 7 dulu, etc, etc, etc...

But this is the first photo I've taken of her (using my camera handphone) and this is her first appearance in any of my online websites.

I was thinking of posting some favourite photos I've taken with it. But, I can't decide!!! They are all my faves!

Alas, I have been thinking of trading her for a new affordable SLR. An upgrade if I may say so.

Perhaps I'll do that when I get a bonus, promotion and have paid up my cards' bills... bila kah agak nyer tu???

Eventhough it'll be years til I buy a new camera, I'm already having second thoughts of giving her up!

Tapi, aku nak beli SLR!!!

ps: Sorang vendor from TM1 (not to be confused with TELEKOM Malaysia!) yang tersangatlah handsome-nyer baru lalu tepi workstation aku! yummy!!!! Selamat bukan aku yg kena kerja ngan dia. I'll lose my concentration. Nanti aku try amik photo dia. But, he's married! );

It's that time of year, again!

I have written a very long entry on my year end job assessments and how i am not satisfied with my previous manager.

But, when I've done typing, I thought, "urggh! boring!".

The whole point of that entry was just this - I got better assessment this year than I did during my last 4 years in this company!

Alhamdulillah...

One wish, though.

For the HR to lower the promotion target %, so that I can get my long overdue promotion!

InsyaAllah...

so, blue it is...

well, not entirely.. but this is my new layout and design...

took only half a day to do...

used my original pictures for the back ground...

need a change once in a while...

husband-to-be

Nih sudah jadi case serious nih!
"We are confirming that Brad Pitt is in the process of becoming the adoptive father of both [Angelina's] children," the publicist said in a statement. "No further comment is being made."...According to an exclusive In Touch report, the couple have allegedly drawn up a prenuptial agreement, primarily to benefit the two children, and the two are expected to marry soon.more on ET Online.com
Best nyer!!!

oops! i did it again

CONGRATULATIONS TO NICOL DAVID FOR BECOMING
THE NO 1 WORLD SQUASH CHAMPION !!!

yeup! she did it yesterday, finally!

as a malaysian, i'm really proud of her achievement, although i'm not really a fan of the sport itself (balls coming straight to your face at a top speed never entices me!)

i think she should deserve a dato-ship for her achievement! really! no other malaysians have ever acheived this level - solo!

OK, perhaps she should try to hold that position for at least two years before getting that title.

but, hey, if azhar can get a dato-ship for sailing araound the world ONCE, why can't Nicol get hers?

she has won numerous No 1 titles even when she was in the junior category, what more now she's in the main category! she's competing against people more senior and have years of experience than hers!!!

I do believe she deserve at least some recognition from MALAYSIA, doncha???

"give credit where credit is deserve"

isn't that what people ALWAYS say?

nonetheless, i don't think dato-ship has ever cross Nicol's mind. She's more on the game itself rather than the glory, i should think so...

anyway, CONGRATS AGAIN TO NICOL!

article from the Star:-

Nicol wins in Hong Kong and goes to the top

Malaysia's Nicol David capped a superb year-long run in squash by bagging the prestigious title in the World Squash Open championship in Hong Kong yesterday.
The 22-year-old lass, currently ranked third in the world, was in devastating form as she powered to 8-10, 9-2, 9-6, 9-7 win over world No. 2 Aussie Rachael Grinham to emerge as the first Malaysian, first Asian and the youngest woman world squash champion.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said: "I am very proud of Nicol's achievements."

"Her excellent performance has elevated her to a sportsperson of distinction. Others should emulate her," he said.

Abdullah is also pleased that the Malaysian SEA Games contingent in Manila has surpassed its 55 gold medal target. Malaysia has 61 gold medals so far.

Is everybody going crazy???

What's up with Hollywood nowadays?

It seems that the in-trend now is celebrities accessorizing themselves with - babies!

For the past few months, most of the entertainment news' headlines contain any one of these words - expecting, latest production, pregnant, delivered, baby, and proud father/mother/parents.

Before this they were going crazy on the 'they-thought-its-weird celebrity' baby's name i.e. Gwyneth's Apple.

Nowadays, it's the baby themselves.

One after another, celebs are getting knocked-up (or is it 'knocked-out' or 'over'? I don't know!). I think it first started with Britney's pregnancy, then the non-existence-pregnancy of demi and JLo.

The past few weeks, several celebs has given birth with the likes of Britney, Penny (Rod Stewart's wife), Michelle Williams (Heath Ledger's), and recently, Jennifer Garner (with Ben Affleck).

Meanwhile those who are currently expecting are Geri (ex-Spice Girl), Mariska (of Law & Order), and Gwyneth, again! And read this, when Blythe Dynner (Gwyneth's mom) was asked whether she'll help her daughter to name the second baby, she said
"I love [the name Apple], I think it's perfect. I hope there'll be more fruits and vegetables coming along since we're all pretty much vegetarians."

Kahkahkah! Siut jer punya jawapan!

Oh yeah! How could I (or any of us), could forget about those two wild-an-crazy-for-each-other-scientologists pair, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, who are also expecting their first child together?

And I heard that Christina Aguilera got married last month. Let's wait for her news any time soon!

Perhaps this year is the Mating season for the Hollywood celebrities lah!

Ps: While searching for theose celebs baby's weird names, I came across this site that has lots of updates on your Hollywood celeb's pregnancy status.

time for a change
