getting invites to dinner functions can be somewhat exciting yet troublesome.
honestly, getting the opportunity to dress up, put on make up - I love.
but the required effort(s) sometimes just.plain.headache!
especially when your wardrobe is terribly homely...
sigh!
shopping for new clothes are therapeutic - when you have the money to spend.
if you don't, even your routine window shopping session can instead be quite stressful.
you might be wondering,
"what's with this long winded story?"as the story goes, Tini (
on behalf of her company) got invited to the launching of
'The King. The Man' book, which by the way is selling for rm300 each, last Saturday. And, lucky lucky, guessed who Tini invited to accompany her! well, i was there, at the right place and the right time...
The thought of getting to dress up made me did a cartwheel -
in my mind lah kan! What more when I read in the menu there'll be
lobster served in it's second course.
FYI:
this blogger's salary is not enough for her to treat herself (not even ONCE!) a lobster meal. Kesian kan... ? hahahahha....But then again, "Shit! I don't have any nice things to wear!!!"
So, that Saturday, ditching 2 open houses invites to find the perfect attire, and with not enough money to spend, yours sincerely, went
- to her mum to borrow her lovely kebaya and selendang
- to her cousin for nice accessories
- through her boxes of clothes for the suitable kain kebaya to go with the top (i could not fit my mum's kain due to differences in hip size!)
as for shoes, I have no problems in finding one as my collections are quite SO-SO.
FYI:
this blogger's ambition when she grows up is to have as many shoes as Carrie or Imelda! ;Pby 7pm, I was ready and was already driving towards KLCC. as i was driving on the PROLINTAS highway, knowing that the function will be attended by big-hair-do royalties (
I hope I don't get 'tulah' for saying this!) and
bling-bling wearing mak datins, I terribly hoped I would not be too underdressed.
*i'm not quite sure how to end this ramblings of mine la...*after helping tini with her make up, as we approached the hotel's entrance, we saw all types of luxury cars (you can ever imagined!) stopping and out came from the car beautifully dressed ladies and fully suited gentlemen... how i wish one of them was me! *sigh!* hehehehe...
looking at my own attire, I thought
"OKlah...Not to shabby". Lagipun, there were other people who were wearing so-so looking baju kurungs...
Sometimes you just
have to
masuk bakul angkat sendiri to make yourself feel good maaa..
as any other formal functions, it was quite boring but the food was de.li.cious! Tini and I was only concerned on the food in front of us rather than what's going around us anyways...
Yet, it never did occur to me that the speech by the
Man of The Hour can ever be that interesting and funny! Just minus all (
well, nearly) those protocols and
'Beta-patik' stuff. Lucky they didn't ask us all to stand while he was giving the speech!
in general, the experience was really interesting and different.
to my dear friend, Cik Tinn, again I'd like to thank you for inviting me.
and if ever there's function such as this, invite
lah aku lagi ek? hehehehehe....
dah lah... malas nak continue my ramblings... balik lagi bagus!
