Sisters

Does anyone remember the TV series 'SISTERS' which was shown some time during the mid 90's? Do you guys remember?

Well, if you don't, here's a refresher...

"'SISTERS" follows the lives and loves of four close, but very different, sisters of the Reed family - Alex, Georgie, Teddy and Frankie - living in Winnetka, Illinois. Beatrice, the mother of the four Reed sisters must consider selling the family home, a step which she's totally unprepared for, and one which affects her excessive attraction to alcohol. Alex, the oldest, is a wealthy, slightly snobbish, WASP wife of a plastic surgeon. Georgie a typical suburban housewife trying to keep the family together must deal with her unemployed husband who spends all his time in his bathrobe, perfecting his lounge act. Teddy, a free-spirited, artist/drifter seeking to find her place in life and who left town three years ago after a failed marriage to Mitch, is back to reclaim what's hers. She's surprised to find out that her baby sister, Frankie, an overachieving, businesswoman trying to make it big in the world, now has him. The four women put their own problems aside, however, when their mother, is involved in a car accident. Together they join forces to help their mother accept the loss of her husband and deal with her alcoholism.
They were my favorites!!! I watched them religiously until TV3 stopped airing them mid season - like all the rest of the TV stations used to do back then. It was during the courtship (nobody uses this word anymore except me - Aiyo!) between Teddy (Sela Ward) and Falconer (George Clooney).

Sela's the reason I watched 'SISTERS'. Not sure why, but maybe it has something to do with her (Teddy) strong and resilient character. And I like her with Falconer.

But ever since 'SISTERS' stopped airing, I rarely see Sela on TV/Movies. I have always wondered what had happened to her. But recently she resurfaced! She was in 'Day After Tomorrow' as Jake Gyllenhaal's mother.

And yesterday, I read somewhere that she'll be guest starring in 'House', another one of my favorite TV-series. She was in 2 episodes during the first season, and she'll be in another seven episodes in Season 2! Yeay!

Sela is Dr. Stacy Warner, "who reveals a possible crack in the acerbic armour of Dr. Gregory House, a brilliant diagnostician with an appalling bedside manner". "Her presence disturbs feelings House thought he'd securely buried." Sounds interesting, aye?

Unfortunately, Dr Stacy Warner is married. So, not much chance for House.

But, still, interesting! Can't wait!

Maybe I'll go and buy the DVD in Sungai Wang this weekend.

tag! I'm it???

I have just logged out of my Blogspot account when I realized that I have been tagged by Yann.

I've been blogging for a couple of years now, and to dig my 23rd post is no easy tasks. I have 484 posts in my blog for god's sake. And that's a lot to me!

Honestly, I don't actually have to do it (seeming how I came SECOND in the list!!!!) but knowing that I will get nagged by Yann for it, might as well do so. And to think that only mothers nag!

Yann, you had better reward me for this! Oh! And you still owe me my birthday present! Hahahahah!!!

1. Delve into your blog archive.
2. Find your 23rd post (or closest to)
3. Find the 5th sentence (or closest to)
4. Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions. Ponder it for meaning, subtext or hidden agendas. (I am not gonna ponder on it! I'll just re-post it. You ponder on it, if u want to and if u don't have better things to do!)
5. Tag five people to do the same.

So, here's my 23rd post for your reading pleasure... i must have predicted i'll be tagged one day, hence, the post!

buat lah! buat lah!!! no matter how extremely easy and boring this thing is!

movie review anyone?

Watched the new Malay movie 'Salon' yesterday.

It was ok. Although I'm not quite sure what the whole story was actually about... ???

Likes:-
  • Pierre Andre - noticed he has problem pronouncing the letter 's'. a bit of a short-tongued has he? But, that doesn't stop him from giving a not-so-bad performance.

  • Chelsia Ng - her acting was waaayyy better than raja farah's, who is by the way supposed to be the lead actress.

  • All the scenes that involves the character Ezra (Pierre) and Emma (Ng).
  • The scene where Ho Yu Hang's character begged Ezra to let him use Ezra's apartment overnight coz he was thrown out by his wife. Damn funny lah!!!

  • Ezra wearing Luna's green tiny T after she spilt coffee on his t-shirt. He looked exactly like his mum (minus the manly facial hair, of course)!

  • The whole idea of doing a Malaysian look-like-Indonesian-Teen-story movie (instead of your typical yusof's or prof razak's filmsssss).

Dislikes:-

  • Raja Farah and her character, Luna - the character's weak. "I'm a kissing fish. No, I'm an anaconda. Kissing fish. Anaconda. An-assing-conda-fish."

  • Zach and his character Daniel - Daniel is sooo mat bunga. I get goosebumps everytime he speaks what more sings! and what's with the "we're the next Nirvana" statement man? Who wrote the script? (whisper : Wan Hasliza Wan Zainuddin). To me, you sounded more like the next "Boboi" group! Get your facts right, dude...

  • All scenes with Luna and Daniel. Who did the casting la... so not-the-right-actors la wey... achoh cho....
  • Ezra not getting his 99% girl, Emma whom I think is 200% better than Luna.

  • Malay Mail's review of the film - saying that it's "A unique teen romance similar to Tentang Dia" is so far fetched and misguiding. Obviously, the reviewer lost focused and fell asleep while reviewing Salon.

boggle-minded about:-
  • dancing scene between zora and luna

  • purpose for shany's character. and what!?! fat people eats whatever that is edible, is it? teruklah. not funny ok?

  • luna accusing ezra of probably thinking she's an "anak gampang" when he didn't even say a word about it or her depicting that she is a cheapo...

  • the fruits-stall taukeh keep making face when Luna took her time selecting the fruits which she buys from him day in, day out.

So for the entire film, I'm giving it 2 out 5 la...or 4 out of 10... or 25%...or 0.25 out of 1...

Kira ok je la... good effort though.

but whatever it is, 2 thumbs + 2 toes up for Ho Yu Hang!!!

ps: talking about salon, my favourite is Fusion in KLCC. And here's Ryan the most sought after hairstylist there and, who happens to be Tini's fav! heheheh... like tini, my cousin also thinks he's cute.

ryan the Fusion hairstylist. not to be confused with Yu hang the funnyman.

tick, tock, tick, tock!

Hung Up
By Madonna

Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly

Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you

Time goes by so slowly for those who wait
No time to hesitate
Those who run seem to have all the fun
I'm caught up
I don't know what to do

Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
I don't know what to do

Ring ring ring goes the telephone
The lights are on but there's no-one home
Tick tick tock it's a quarter to two
And I'm done
I'm hanging up on you

I can't keep on waiting for you
I know that you're still hesitating
Don't cry for me
'cause I'll find my way
you'll wake up one day
but it'll be too late

Every little thing
Every little thing

I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you

Waiting for your call
Waiting for your call

I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you

Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly

So slowly...

I don't know what too do

I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you.

fresh start?

Welcome back to the office!

(yeah, right!)

RAYA was the usual for me...

the many foods; rendang, ketupat, kuih (yummy tart nenas!), lontong, mama's delicious serunding kelapa & sambal sotong, mummy's yummy ayam ros, and gallons of cool carbonated drinks!

speaking of food, might be doing a bbq party with cousins this weekend. but have to wait and see if there's enough people to share the expenses with...

also visited some of the relatives. had to miss alya's (yan's daughter) first birthday party.

no baju raya for me. wore those i bought for this year's annual dinner and weddings.
but did buy handbag raya! hehehehe... never did i buy a more expensive handbag in my entire 10 years (note : years not including those which i was under FAMA sponsorship!). also bought an office shoe from eclipse; pretty sexy for me but damn sakit to wear! me = fashion victim!

why no baju raya? hate having to go in-and-out of the changing rooms to try out all those pretty-but-does-not-fit-me-and-did-i-mention-expensive clothes!
